The Florida-based auction house will offer nearly 650 lots in its Lucky Numbers sale, which will take place on March 29, 2022 at 12:00 PM EDT.Jean Baptiste Camille Corot (French, 1796-1875) PaintingJean-Baptiste-Camille Corot’s untitled oil painting leads the listings with a pre-sale estimate of USD 20,000 to $40,000 (lot #66). The legendary French painter worked in the liminal space between Neo-Classicism and Impressionism. His plein-air works captured the muted delicacy of the French countryside, which features in the available work. In this framed piece, a farmworker labors in the foreground. Cows linger near a grove of tall, twisting trees.Alberto Pasini (Italian 1826-1899) Oil PaintingAnother notable painting in the catalog is from Italian Late-Romantic artist Alberto Pasini. This ex-Sotheby’s oil painting shows a hilly landscape beneath a delicate blue sky (lot #65; estimate: $50,000 – $100,000). To the left of the pastoral composition, a dirt road winds just out of frame. Pasini traveled widely in the 1850s while serving under France’s diplomat to then-Persia. He favored the vistas of Egypt, Istanbul, and the Red Sea and focused his artistic output on those areas. Exceptional Old Master Paintings, European Art, and Auguste Rodin Sculptures to Appear at Freeman’s

A tender mother-and-child sculpture by Auguste Rodin, various European landscape paintings, and other masterpieces will soon cross Freeman’s auction block. The European Art and Old Masters sale, scheduled for February 22, 2022, presents over 50 lots from expert sculptors, painters, and artists of the last few centuries.Auguste Rodin (French, 1840-1917) M?re et Fille Mourante (Mrs. Merrill and her Daughter Sally)Leading the catalog is Auguste Rodin’s Mère et Fille Mourante (Mrs. Merrill and her Daughter Sally), a bronze work with verdigris patina (lot #42; estimate: USD 250,000 – $400,000). Rodin conceived the piece between 1908 and 1910. American lumber baron Thomas Merrill and his wife Elizabeth commissioned this piece to commemorate their deceased daughter. The available work allegorically presents mother and child in a tender embrace. Only their faces and joined hands emerge from the sculpture’s irregular surface.
